Call about a repair

123 Main St, Lathrop, MO Turnaround right now: 6 to 9 days $45 diagnostic, waived with the repair

What we fix

If it has a pull cord or a carburetor, bring it in.

Two thirds of what comes through the door is fuel. Ethanol sits over the winter, varnishes the carburetor, and the machine will not start in April. That is a cheap fix and we would rather tell you so on the phone than have you buy a new mower.

PLACEHOLDER: walk-behind push mower up on a lift table with the deck tipped, blade off, hands cleaning the underside of the deck with a scraper

Walk-behind mowers

Will not start, will not stay running, pulls hard, cuts uneven. Carburetor rebuilds, recoil springs, blade and spindle work, deck welding on the older steel decks.

tune-up $89

PLACEHOLDER: riding lawn tractor with the hood off and the mower deck dropped, deck belt routing exposed, socket set on the seat

Riding tractors and zero-turns

Belts, spindles, PTO clutches, charging systems, hydro drives that have gone soft, and the deck leveling nobody ever does.

tune-up $165

PLACEHOLDER: string trimmers and a backpack blower standing in a rack, one apart on the bench with the clutch drum and coil laid out

Trimmers and blowers

Two-stroke fuel line rot, primer bulbs, coils, clutch drums and the gearheads on the straight-shaft units. New line and a head rebuild while it is here.

from $55

PLACEHOLDER: chainsaw disassembled on a bench with the bar and chain off, a chain grinder in the background with a fresh chain on the wheel

Chainsaws

Chain grinding on the wheel, bar and sprocket replacement, oiler pumps, carburetor rebuilds, and compression testing before you spend money on a saw that is done.

chain sharpen $9

PLACEHOLDER: rear-tine garden tiller and a log splitter parked side by side in the shop, tines and wedge showing wear, hydraulic hose coiled

Tillers and log splitters

Tine shafts, gearbox seals, hydraulic hoses and pumps, and the recoil assemblies that take the worst of it. Heavy stuff, so use the pickup service.

by the job

PLACEHOLDER: portable generator and a two-stage snow blower on the shop floor in front of a parts shelf, auger housing showing bent paddles

Generators and snow blowers

Off-season is the right time for both. Generators get load tested, snow blowers get augers, paddles, shear pins and the chute crank nobody greases.

load test $60

PLACEHOLDER: close crop of a hand-written work order tag zip-tied to a mower handle, part numbers and a phone number written on it, greasy thumbprint on the corner

On the bench

Four machines in the shop this week.

The board by the counter has the real queue on it and the real turnaround. In April and May that number goes to three weeks no matter what anybody wants, so get your mower in during February and skip the line.

The shop

One bench, one man, and a board with your name on it.

Owner name goes here has been on Maple Street since 1995. It is a one-bench shop, which is why the turnaround is honest instead of optimistic and why you talk to the person who is actually going to fix the thing.

There is no showroom and nothing here is for sale except labor and parts. If you need a new mower he will tell you which dealer to go see, and then he will service it for you afterward.
